The Millers travel to the Elderstubbs Stadium to face league newcomers Daventry Town this weekend in game week 16 of the BetVictor Southern League.
The hosts returned to step 4 football after a brilliant 2018/19 season saw them do the double winning the UCL Premier Division and UCL Knock Out Cup under current manager Arron Parkinson.
Both sides will be hoping for an early Christmas in the shape of three points, especially with how close the fight for the playoffs has become. Just six points separate 7th and 15th place ahead of a very busy festive period of fixtures and with both teams tied for 10th on 23 points, it is certainly all to play for.
Form
North Leigh have been playing some very good football as of late as it seems Manager Craig is getting the best from his players especially at such an important period in the season. They have collected 10 points from the last six including an unbeaten home run stretching to mid-October. A congested fixture list has caused some pains to the squad though and dropping points to Yaxley and the 3-0 loss to Kidlington will certainly be on the brain.
League newcomers Daventry Town started rather impressively occupying a playoff spot for the 1st few weeks of the season. The honeymoon period may have come and gone though for the Purple Army who have picked up just a single point in from their last 12 available.
Previous Encounter
This is the first fixture between these two clubs and any club named Daventry for the Millers for that fact.
Did You Know?
The 2011/12 season was the first time hosts Daventry Town have competed at step 4 of the National League system in their 133 year history and it couldn’t have gone much better finished 3rd and making the playoffs. The painstaking 1-0 playoff final loss to Hitchin Town held them back from an back-to-back promotions in an unbelievable season under manager Ady Fuller.
