Thame United v North Leigh

Match Preview

Edward Martin3 Jan 2020 - 21:27

The Millers will be hoping to get back to winning ways tomorrow as we welcome Thame United to Eynsham Park in the BetVictor Southern League.

6th-placed Thame are currently the highest placed Oxfordshire side in the league above only North Leigh making the face-off a very exciting one, especially if the reverse fixture is anything to go by.

Having spent the majority of the 2018/19 campaign in the playoffs, tomorrow’s visitors missed out by just 5 points to Sutton Coldfield Town and will be desperate to make 2020 their year.

Form

It’s been a very mixed few weeks for the Millers with some of the highs and lows of the season. A 3-0 Boxing Day victory over local rivals Didcot Town proved to be one of the highlights of the year but followed six days later by a 1-0 defeat to Wantage Town who until then were yet to claim a single point this season. But 10 points from a possible 18 cannot be looked down upon especially compared to this time last year.

Thame’s results as of late is nothing short of incredible. They sit 2nd in the form table behind only Halesowen Town with 16 points from 18 and an unbeaten league run that stretches back to the 4th November. Even more impressively, these have included a 2-0 win over league giants Corby Town and a 2-1 win against Berkhamsted.

Previous Encounter

Thame United 2 - 2 North Leigh, Tuesday 20th August 2019

North Leigh were forced to settle for a single point in the reverse fixture at the start of the season despite a truly dominant performance for the yellows.

Tyriq Hunte and Ben Brown both got on the scoresheet for the Millers but ultimately they were made to rue a saved penalty from Jordy Ngathe.

Did You Know?

Thame’s multi-million pound venue at Church Farm in the North of Thame was officially opened in January 2011 with a celebratory game scheduled to mark the first match at the new stadium against League Two side Oxford United. The U’s won 3-1 in the landmark friendly but Thame’s hopes could not be shattered with a record attendance set of 1,382 at the ASM Stadium.
